Chalk Couture Block Set Winter Reversible Project

Chalk Couture Block Set Winter Project

I don’t love winter, but I do love beautiful winter home decor. I also love decor pieces that can do “double duty.” This means they can span several seasons or be reversible. In this case, our Chalk Couture block set winter project is reversible.

Winter Chalk Couture Block Set Ideas

These chalk couture block sets are really nice. They are wood and come already painted white so you are ready to chalk your design on them. You’ll notice in some of the examples, the blocks have been painted. You can do this using craft paint. I like to water down my chalk couture paste and paint the back with that as I know it will match.

If you do paint your block, you will want to wax it before chalking your design on it. To wax your block, you’ll need some chalk couture wax, an applicator and a soft cloth. The instructions on the block recommend you wax before using. Be sure to fuzz your transfer REALLY well.

When you paint your block think about what design you will put on the back side of your block as well. The 2 blocks that sit on top will need to have the edges painted as well, especially if you are painting it a darker color. Another option could be that you paint all the edges black or gray. Painting the entire block – front and back is also an option. You do what will work for your design options.

Block Set Ideas

So let’s talk about how to make these winter chalk couture block sets as versatile as possible.

I’ll start with winter holidays since this is about winter chalk couture block sets. You have a few options. You could do a Christmas theme on one side and a winter theme on the other. For example, do They Found a Star on the front and Feelin’ Frotsty on the back side. So when Christmas is over, you simply turn the blocks around and you can enjoy this decor piece a little longer.

You could also do winter on one side and a general design on the other. For example, do Feelin Frosty on the front and do the Family design, You are my Forever on the back.

There is typically a Halloween design, so you could do that on one side and then some folks like to jump right into Christmas, so do that on the reverse. There are a couple of different Christmas ones. This year there is one more religious and one more general about mistletoe.

You may want to avoid “holidays” and simply stick to seasons. That way you could get 2 block sets that would rotate in and out all year. So pick a winter theme, then a spring theme for one set. Then do a general theme or a couple that has an inspirational theme.

Think outside the transfer too! What I mean is if you find a transfer you REALLY love, can you use it on the blocks to create your own design? For example, I love the beach! Is there a way to use a current beachy-themed transfer for the blocks?

So when looking at different transfers to use keep in mind the bottom (largest) block is 11 inches by 4 inches. The other blocks are 6 1/2 by 4 1/2 and 4/12 by 4 1/2 inches.

Chalk Couture Block Set Winter Project Kit

To make it really easy, I put together a kit so that you can pick up all the supplies you need to create this versatile craft. Note that there are several transfers here for you to choose from. You might also search the chalk transfers to see if there are new seasonal ones you might like to choose from as well.

So, once you’ve received your Chalk Couture supplies, be sure to read how to create your chalk project if you are a new chalker. If not then I can’t wait to see what you create! And don’t forget to clean your transfers right after you use them. They are reusable if you take care of them!
