What is Chalk Couture (and why you need it)
What is chalk couture DIY
Chalk Couture is taking the DIY arena by storm. I first heard of chalk couture a few months ago and was curious what it was all about. You see, I love making things with my Silhouette Cameo but I wondered if there was an easier way to make templates. Well, there is!
Chalk Couture is a fairly new company that launched a little over 2 years ago. They are making waves with their DIY home decor line that includes chalk paints, inks and different surfaces to paint on.
What Makes Chalk Couture Unique
So, do you want to know what makes chalk couture unique? For starters, the surfaces are really top quality. Some chalkboard surface is also magnetic and it cleans up perfectly. There is a lot to choose from too, so be sure to check out all the different styles.
It cleans up? Yep! That means that the adorable Valentines’ art you created doesn’t have to go in the closet on February 15. Just wash the design off your board and create a new design for the next holiday or season. Seriously! Just spritz the design with water, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe clean. You can also use special board cleaners or disinfectant wipes. Do NOT use baby wipes! You can read more details about cleaning your surfaces.

The chalk pastes are also unique in the fact that they are washable. Apparently, the formula for the paste was concocted in the owner’s kitchen and is completely washable. It won’t leave any “ghosting” on your board. Learn more about chalkology paste.
And the BEST part, at least for me, is the chalk couture transfers. These are like a vinyl stencil only WAY better. It’s better because if you think about letters that have an interior (like an “O” or an “A”) are sometimes difficult to get just right on a stencil. Well – with the transfers it is taken care of.
You see, the transfer is like a silkscreen. It’s got a tiny screen that the paint will go through and all those tiny pieces stay put.
And it gets even better! Not only does the design come in one sheet but the chalk couture transfer is reusable. If you use your transfer properly and clean it immediately after use, you should be able to get 8-10 uses from one transfer. Now, this will also depend on what you’re using it on. Surfaces like paper tend to pick up more “fuzz” and tend to shorten the life of the adhesive.
So, top-quality designer surfaces, washable chalk paste, and reusable transfers are what make Chalk Couture unique.
